Installing Your eSIM

Step-by-step answers for QR code setup, manual installation and timing your eSIM activation correctly.

5 questions in this section

How do I install my eSIM using a QR code?

After purchase, you will receive your eSIM setup details by email, including a QR code. To install:

  • Connect your phone to Wi-Fi
  • On iPhone: go to Settings > Mobile Service or Cellular > Add eSIM
  • On Android: go to Settings > Network & Internet or SIM manager > Add eSIM
  • Choose “Use QR code” and scan your QR code
  • Follow the on-screen steps to complete installation
  • Activate the eSIM when you arrive at your destination, unless the product instructions say otherwise
Do not delete your eSIM

Once installed, keep the eSIM on your device until your plan has finished. Some eSIMs cannot be reinstalled once deleted.

If the QR code does not scan, most eSIM products include manual setup details. In your phone’s “Add eSIM” screen, look for a “Use setup code” or “Enter details manually” option.
You will need to enter:
  • The SM-DP+ address (sometimes called the server address)
  • The activation code
  • A confirmation code if required
Entering details

Enter all codes exactly as shown in your order email. A single incorrect character can cause the installation to fail. Copy and paste where possible.

This depends on the specific plan. Check the product instructions and activation notes carefully before activating.
Common activation types:
  • Starts when installed — validity begins as soon as the eSIM is added to your phone
  • Starts on first network connection — validity starts when you connect to a local network in the destination
  • Fixed start date — validity begins on a set date regardless of activation
Activate at the right time

Activating too early on time-limited plans may use up your validity period before you arrive at your destination. Read the product instructions before activating.

You can usually install your eSIM before travelling while connected to Wi-Fi at home. This means you do not need to find Wi-Fi on arrival.
Tip

Installing in advance is a good idea for most products. However, check whether your plan activates on installation or on first network connection — and avoid enabling data roaming on the eSIM until you are ready to use it at your destination.

In many cases, no. Some eSIM products cannot be reinstalled once deleted from a device. The QR code may only be valid for a single installation.
Do not delete without guidance

Do not remove your eSIM from your device unless you have been instructed to do so by the product instructions or RoameoGo support. If you have accidentally deleted your eSIM, contact RoameoGo as soon as possible.
