Device Compatibility

Before purchasing an eSIM, it is important to confirm your device is eSIM-compatible and unlocked. These answers explain how to check.

4 questions in this section
Is my phone eSIM-compatible?
Many newer iPhones, Samsung, Google Pixel and other smartphones support eSIM, but not every model does. Before buying, check your device settings or your manufacturer’s support page to confirm your phone supports eSIM.
What to check:
  • eSIM hardware is present in your device
  • eSIM is enabled by your carrier on your account
  • Your device is unlocked (not carrier-locked)
Yes. Your phone normally needs to be unlocked to use a travel eSIM from another provider. If your phone is locked to your current mobile carrier, the eSIM may not work.
Locked phone?

Your home carrier may still apply roaming charges if you use your regular SIM to make or receive calls abroad. Check your home plan's roaming terms before travelling.

On many iPhones, you can check by going to Settings > Mobile Service or Cellular. If you see an option to add an eSIM or mobile plan, your device may support eSIM.
Steps to check on iPhone:
  • Open Settings on your iPhone
  • Tap Mobile Service or Cellular (varies by iOS version)
  • Look for an “Add eSIM” or “Add Data Plan” option
  • If this option appears, your iPhone likely supports eSIM
Also worth checking

Check your exact iPhone model on the Apple support website to confirm eSIM support. Even if eSIM hardware is present, your carrier must also have enabled eSIM on your account.

On many Android phones, you can check under Settings > Network & Internet or Connections > SIM Manager. The exact wording varies by manufacturer and Android version.
What to look for:
  • An option to add an eSIM or add a mobile plan
  • A “Scan QR code” or “Download SIM” option
  • A section for eSIM or embedded SIM management
Tips

If you cannot find an eSIM option, search your exact model on the manufacturer's support website. Samsung, Google and other major brands publish eSIM compatibility information online.
